A Postcard Bearing Witness to History Returns to Uludağ After Years

A postcard that the late grandfather of Bursa businessman Burak Beceren had sent to an Austrian friend he met while skiing on Uludağ 61 years ago has returned to Bursa after many years. The pristine image of Uludağ on the postcard, which bears a photograph of the Uludağ Ski House, drew attention.

Osman Yüce, the head of a family that owns a hotel as well as a marketing company on Uludağ, met an Austrian named Marcus in 1955 together with a friend who was a ski instructor; at the end of the season, he sent Marcus – who had returned to his country – a postcard bearing a photograph of the Uludağ Ski House. The two friends came together over the years in Uludağ and Austria.

After the passing of the two friends, Marcus's grandson set out with the postcard sent to their grandfather and headed to Bursa, reaching Osman Yüce's grandson Burak Beceren. Moved by the photograph carrying the memory of old friends returning to Bursa, Beceren shared the postcard and this meaningful story on his social media account. The absence of hotels in the 61-year-old photograph on the postcard reveals the untouched state of Uludağ at that time.
